Surface protection in construction

TEDLAR * is used outdoors as a permanent coating for façade panels and roof units made from galvanized steel, aluminium or laminated pressed materials. Particularly beneficial here are the thermal stability and the colour fastness, the resistance to weathering and abrasion, as well as the stability to chemicals and UV radiation. The quality of construction-grade TEDLAR* guarantees optimum protection for the outside of the building. Even years later, there are no major differences in the colour. Modernisation and extensions are possible without any problems.

In the interior, TEDLAR* is used as a wall covering for areas of high exposure in factories, schools, hospitals and other public buildings, as well as for panelling acoustic units. Very advantageous here are the non-adherence and dirt-repelling characteristics of the surface as well as the exceptionally high stability towards solvents. Even the most severe contaminations can be removed without any effort. The walls retain their appealing look for a long time. Costly repairs and the need to redecorate are made superfluous.

When laminated with aluminium or with glass fabric, TEDLAR* is used a flexible protective jacket for pipes in the chemical, steel and paper industries.

Surface protection in transportation

TEDLAR* has been used with great success for many years now in numerous interior and exterior applications in vehicle manufacturing. Particularly advantageous here are the long durability, the colour fastness over many years, as well as and above all, the straightforward cleaning. TEDLAR* is used in the interior, for example as surface protection, or inside panelling in aircraft cabins, buses and railway carriages. The surfaces are permanently protected and without any appreciable increase in weight. In outdoor applications, TEDLAR* is widely used in colour styling for the superstructures of lorries.

Surface protection in many other areas

Thanks to special designs, compositions and surface types, TEDLAR* is used as surface protection in many other areas as well. Applications include air-inflated structures, flexible tanks, solar collectors, photovoltaic cells, luminous advertising, labels, road signs or recycled PVC sheets.

Release agents

Because of its exceptional mechanical and anti-adherence properties together with its almost inert behaviour towards acids, alkalis and most solvents, TEDLAR* with an "S" surface is the ideal release agent for epoxy and phenol resins, for polyester and caoutchouc compounds. Unlike other release agents TEDLAR* does not contain any softeners whatsoever, and thus the undesirable entry of softener substances into the moulded part is ruled out completely.
